Combolands milestones and weeks explained

Updated Sep 28, 2026 · Demo versions identified below

The short answer

A milestone gives you a population target and a limited number of weeks. Reach the target before the counter expires. After the Neutral progression unlock, you can choose whether the milestone ends immediately when the target is reached.

Read these two numbers before placing

  1. Population target: the number the current city stage asks you to reach.
  2. Weeks remaining: the run-time resource available to reach that target.

Official screenshots show both values together. A NextFest Demo v7 Small Town screen shows population 300, a next milestone of 3,000 and 7 weeks remaining. A separate pre-release Small City screenshot shows a 6,500 target and 8 weeks. These are dated interface examples, not a formula for every current rank.

How the early-end milestone option works

The official Demo v9 patch added a Neutral unlock that lets the player choose whether a milestone ends immediately after its target is reached. For existing saves at that time, the note required Neutral level 7 and a completed run before the option became available.

If the choice is missing, check progression first rather than assuming the interface is broken. The source does not say that every fresh save starts with the option.

Should you end now or use the remaining weeks?

This is planning guidance, not a hidden reward formula. The official sources used here do not confirm universal bonus Gold for unused weeks, milestone-extension rules or a single optimal choice for every build.

A quick milestone checklist

  • Read the target and week counter before choosing a card.
  • Use the placement preview to compare immediate population, not just future potential.
  • Keep space for the one interaction your current build actually needs.
  • Once the target is reached, give every extra week a named purpose.
  • If no clear purpose exists, advance and preserve the run.

For the rest of the first-run loop, continue with the beginner guide. To estimate the real time you should set aside, see how long a Combolands run takes.

Common milestone questions

What is a milestone in Combolands?

The run interface shows a population target for the current stage and a limited number of weeks. Reaching the target advances or completes that milestone.

Can you end a Combolands milestone early?

Yes, after the relevant Neutral progression unlock. Demo v9 says it lets the player choose whether a milestone ends immediately when its target is reached.

How do you unlock the early-end choice?

The official Demo v9 note says existing saves must reach Neutral level 7 and finish a run to unlock the milestone option.

Do unused weeks give bonus Gold?

The official sources used here do not publish a universal unused-week Gold formula. Do not treat an unsourced search snippet or video claim as a confirmed reward.

Are the 3,000 and 6,500 targets fixed?

No. Those are values visible in two dated official screenshots at different city stages. They are examples, not a universal current formula.
