Why Steam says Playable instead of Verified
Steam displays Combolands as Playable on Steam Deck. Before release, a Crux Games reply marked [developer] on Steam said the game was confirmed playable but would not be Verified by launch.
Why the text can look blurry or hard to read
Crux Games now lists Steam Deck verification as a near-term priority and specifically says it wants to address text legibility. That confirms a readability problem, but not a separate technical cause for every blurry-image report.
Players in a Steam discussion and a Steam Deck community thread describe blur or stretching. These are player observations, not an official diagnosis.
One setting to test
- Open the display or scaling options you currently use for the game.
- Turn off stretching and compare the same text or card screen.
- If the image becomes clearer but smaller, decide whether that trade-off works for your screen.
- If nothing improves, restore the original setting. No official Combolands Deck preset has been published.
This test comes from one player report. It is not a guaranteed fix and is not the developer's recommendation.
What about controller support?
The developer says broader controller support is a direction the team intends to reach, but does not say that full controller support is complete or give a delivery date. Steam Deck playability therefore should not be read as a promise that every menu already has a console-style control path.
Are there recommended Steam Deck settings?
No official Deck-specific graphics, scaling or performance preset is published. The Windows requirements do not prove a particular frame rate, battery-life result or readable UI size on Steam Deck. Check the live compatibility details in Steam before purchasing or downloading.
Other platforms
Steam Deck is the only handheld with a confirmed playable status in the sources tracked here. No Nintendo Switch, Android or iOS version has been announced. The Combolands platform guide keeps those questions separate from the Deck answer.
