How to place Outpost

  1. Pick the triggered building first. Outpost is useful only when the neighboring effect is worth repeating.
  2. Reserve the empty side of the setup. Do this before wells, rails or farm support occupy the surrounding tiles.
  3. Count natural objects as neighbors. A public player report says plants and rocks can fail the no-neighbor condition.
  4. Read the live target highlight. The public sources do not settle every current target or timing value, so the card in your build is the final check.

Why an open-looking tile can fail

The common trap is reading “no neighbors” as “no placed buildings.” Combolands maps begin with plants, rocks and other natural objects already occupying tiles. The player report linked here says those objects count for Outpost, so scan the whole adjacency ring instead of only your building network.

Farm and well conflicts

Outpost competes for the same clean adjacency space that farms often want for wells and other support. A detailed Steam Community discussion notes that Outpost works poorly when fields must remain adjacent to wells. That does not make Outpost universally bad; it means the trigger target and the empty pocket should be planned before the farm cluster expands.

A safe decision rule

Use Outpost when one repeatable nearby effect is more valuable than filling every adjacent tile. Skip it when the surrounding network earns more from wells, category support or connected infrastructure than the extra trigger can return.
